HI everyone,
I am a dancer and Physio Therapist from Germany.
I think there are so many helpful videos on technique here!
Having said this, maybe it would be a good Idea to talk about the AT-ankle. So people know that your turnout depends on your hip BONEstructure. Because if people do not know this they might hurt themselves with some of the streching techniques shown in some of the videos (Tight hips for example). In order to have a 180° Turnout you gota have a coxa retrotorta. In medicine this is actually a hip disposition. If you do not have this, then you will never be able to do a men split with your knees facing the ceiling. Yes you can always improve by streching the muscles surrounding the joint, but the joint is what gives you the range in the end. So if you press your legs against a wall, you will severe damage your hip bones. Unfortunately many many professional dancers do not have enough knowledge of the anatomy. So be careful, so that you can enojoy dacing as long as possible. cheers, Sarah

Thanks for the kind words and thoughtful email Sarah. We appreciate you reminding all dancers as well to be careful with their bodies. Bone structure really can play a big part, and we certainly do recommend everyone be careful and go at their own pace! Have a great week and stay safe :)
